ERC Ingolstadt surprisingly missed the leap to the top of the table in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
The 2014 German champions lost 2-1 at home after a penalty shoot-out on Thursday evening against the SC Bietigheim Steelers, who were bottom of the table before the game. While the Ingolstadt team could not overtake EHC Bull Munich and are still second, Bietigheim improved to second from last.
After seven wins from the last eight games, Ingolstadt got off to a good start and took the lead in the first third through Enrico Henriquez-Morales. In the final section, however, CJ Stretch made sure Bietigheimer equalized before the American also scored the decisive goal in the shootout.
