ERC ignores Junts and demands more time to organize a new ‘general staff’

CKD does not intend to attend the times set by Together for Catalonia in his ultimatum launched by Jordi Turull 15 days ago and for which they demanded that three demands be satisfied in the general policy debate, on September 27: reactivate a strategic direction of the independence movement, join forces in Congress and reorient the dialogue table. If not, Turull hinted, the stability of the Government could be compromised. “We will not give in,” several Republican sources point out to this newspaper because the party believes “they are the ones who have wanted to put pressure, precisely, to ease the internal tension in their force.”

The post-convergence, in private, maintains that Esquerra’s pulse against the ANC this Diada has been “a failure” and that its partners are “isolated.” Now, they show concern because the immobility of their partners will put them in the position of deciding whether or not to leave the Government as they have threatened. “It’s a boomerang”, say ERC sources. And it is that their calculations happen because Junts decides what to do, whether or not to consult the militancy the rupture of the Executiu, and this rankles the two factions that ERC identifies in the post-convergence framework, the heirs of the CDC and the ‘activists’. “It is not our problem. The three points to which they allude are not a priority so that the stability of the Government depends on them & rdquor ;, these voices emphasize.

Does this mean that the ERC does not want to address the creation of “a space for strategic consensus”, one of the many names that the ‘sanhedrin’, ‘general staff’ or ‘board of directors’ takes? No. Republicans are favorable to the existence of a “strategic consensus” forum, which is intended to be “very discreet”, with the presence of the Government on behalf of the ‘president’ and parties and entities, but which, under no circumstances, determines what the ‘president should do ‘ Pere Aragones. “By consensus means that everyone agrees.” In addition, this body is sued by entities such as Òmnium, whose own sketch of ‘Sanhedrin’ does not displease the republicans. Of course, the birth of this organ “requires a cooking time, which will not be conditioned by the needs internal Junts”.

The Republicans suspect that, behind Junts’ demands, lies the will to acquire the relevance and decision-making power with which they were not graced at the polls, nor in the Parliamentary elections, nor in those of Congress. Another recurring fear, and linked to the above, is that Junts tries to place this ‘Sanhedrin’ under the umbrella of Council for the Republic, the entity created by the ‘expresident’ Carles Puigdemont.

No change after Diada

Several Republican sources assert that the events of this weekend have not changed one iota in this desire to show firmness to Junts. And that they are not afraid “at all.” “Against more pressure they move, the less we will give in. If we did, we would lose a position of strength & rdquor ;, asserts a voice, which states: “They themselves are narrowing their path & rdquor ;.

Junts maintains its three demands because, in its opinion, the Diada was relatively satisfactory for the party. The diagnosis is that ERC, and more specifically its leader Oriol Junquerashave failed in the fight with the ANC and are now “very nervous”, while his strategy -despite the fact that he was also criticized at the demonstration- has not been eroded. “You can’t arm wrestle with the street”, summarized in the direction of JxCat, who also see certain internal cracks in the ERC strategy. “They have been isolated, because we maintain concentric circles, despite the differences, with the ANC and Òmnium, while they no longer want to impose their strategy.”

“Junts maintains its demands on the Republicans and they assert that they will not give in”

The conversations will continue in the field of discretion until the general policy debate, which should be the stage that includes the possible agreements between the two partners of the Government.

Together’s concern

But Junts does not hide a certain concern: yes CKD persists in not giving in, then the ball will be on the court of Jordi Turull and Laura Borràs. And at that moment the dilemma will be noticeable. This same Monday the two different visions about what to do were seen. While Turull in Rac-1 bet on the outstretched hand to avoid the “slam of the door” between partners, Laura Borràs intervened in La 2 affirming that it is “perfectly possible” that the Govern will break up. “It is perfectly possible that Junts will leave the Government because we have analyzed the commitments we made, and we want to fulfill them, and nationally they are not being fulfilled,” she asserted.

Thus, the new deadline for sovereignism is the general policy debate in Parliament at the end of the month. Negotiations between partners will continue until that date in a context, in principle, of discretion.
