Christian Kukuk and Philipp Weishaupt took second place at the international tournament of the Global Champions Tour in Riesenbeck.
The team called Riesenbeck International collected a total of five penalty points on Ludger Beerbaum’s tournament facility. The Paris Panthers (4) won ahead of the team with the two Beerbaum employees.
Vogel wins the individual classification
But there was a German victory in the individual classification. Richard Vogel prevailed in the saddle of Cepano Baloubet. The rider from Marburg did not have a penalty point with his horse and won ahead of Belgian Olivier Philippaerts with Legend Of Love and Frenchman Simon Delestre with Dexter Fontenis. Vogel does not belong to any of the teams in the tournament series, which is making its debut in Riesenbeck, and qualified for the Grand Prix on Sunday.
The five-star event in Riesenbeck is the third largest open-air show jumping tournament in Germany after Aachen and Hamburg and is part of the Global Champions Tour for the first time. The most important series in equestrian sport had stations in Hamburg and Berlin in previous years, but the tournaments are no longer part of it. Riesenbeck, a district of the municipality of Hörstel in the Tecklenburg region, is the only stage in this country. In the past few years, Beerbaum, who ended his own career just under three weeks ago, has built a large equestrian facility in Riesenbeck, which has around 6,500 inhabitants.
