Three-time Olympic champion Michael Jung defended his title at the German Eventing Championships in Luhmühlen. The 39-year-old from Horb remained undefeated on Highlighter in the final competition on Sunday. On Saturday he also finished the cross-country ride with the eleven-year-old stallion without any mistakes.
With 25.6 penalty points, he relegated Dirk Schrade from Heidmühlen in Holstein to Casino (29.6 penalty points) in second place. Third place went to Sandra Auffarth from Ganderkesee on her youngster Rosveel (29.8). For Jung it was the third national title after 2012 and 2021. Schrade and Auffarth also remained undefeated in the show jumping course.
Felix Vogg on Colero won the more demanding five-star test. On his 32nd birthday, the Swiss rider remained flawless in jumping and in cross-country on Saturday and won with his dressage result of 29.0 penalty points. It is the first victory by a Swiss in a five-star competition in over 70 years. Sophie Leube from Hamm-Rhynern was the only German starter with her mare Jadore Moi to drop out in the cross-country.
