Epiphone releases its legendary “Greeny” guitar

Epiphone is once again paying tribute to the Metallica guitarist by partnering with him to release another of his iconic guitars. His beloved “Greeny” is now also available for fans and music lovers to buy at a much more affordable price than a previous, limited edition of the instrument. The good piece is called “Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Kirk Hammett ‘Greeny’ 1959 Les Paul Standard” and is priced at around 1,376 euros.

“Greeny” for everyone

Anyone who wanted to experience the true “Greeny” experience had to dig deeper into their pockets. At the beginning of the year, Kirk Hammett released a limited edition Gibson guitar in the style of his legendary instrument for 18,361 euros. By collaborating with Epiphone, many more people now have the opportunity to feel closer to the Metallica icon. Hammett himself says of the collaboration: “I think the ‘Greeny’ is a people’s guitar, and this is a great opportunity for more players to experience the spirit of the ‘Greeny’.”

Hammett’s original was originally written by Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, from whom it got its name. On her way to Metallica she made a small stop in the hands of Thin Lizzy musician Gary Moore. On Instagram the musician shares a photo with the new “Greeny”, explains the history of his work tool and writes: “Now YOU too can practice the magic of ‘Greeny’: Click on the Bio link to join the list of legends.”

A press release states: “The ‘Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Kirk Hammett ‘Greeny’ 1959 Les Paul Standard’ represents a new era of premium features for Epiphone, the first Epiphone production since the ’80s with the world-renowned Gibson Open-book headstock to the use of Gibson pickups and electronics, one-piece necks and mother-of-pearl inlays.”

The modeled “Greeny” is now on the official version Epiphone website available.

It wasn’t until the beginning of November 2023 that Epiphone offered Kirk Hammett’s “Gibson Flying V Guitar” from 1979 to the general public.
