The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of Defense (EOD) found an explosive in a waste container on IJburg in Amsterdam-East tonight. Shortly afterwards, a suspect was arrested in a home.
At around 3:45 p.m., an anonymous tipster told the police that there may have been explosive material in a garbage container on Cas Oorthuyskade. Several units were then deployed to investigate the container. Apart from the EOD, the Forensic Investigation was also called up.
The street on IJburg has been temporarily closed off. As far as is known, people do not have to leave their homes. The house where the suspect was arrested is being investigated to see if there are still explosives there.
