E&O made up for a large backlog, but draws against the last

HANDBALL – After fifteen minutes, the game already seemed over for E&O, as last-placed V&L from Geleen was leading 9-2. The team from Emmen showed character, came alongside and got a taste of the victory. It was not a win, however, as the match ended in a 20-20 draw.

Despite the difference in the rankings, E&O quickly faced a 3-0 deficit. The last stage outclassed E&O in the initial phase and the gap could not be closed. On the contrary, the hosts from Geleen took a 9-2 lead after fifteen minutes.

From this point on things started to improve at E&O. The home team became sloppier and the team from Emmen handled the chances more accurately. The team of trainer Henrik Bergholt probably went to the changing rooms with satisfaction, despite the halftime score of 11-9 in favor of V&L.

It didn’t take long in the second half for E&O to come alongside. From that point on, the teams remained very even and the teams did not run away from each other on the scoreboard.

10 minutes before the end, the Emmen took the lead for the first time. In a final phase that was full of tension, the teams gave nothing away to each other. Goals were scarce and neither team could take a lead. Therefore, the game ends in a 20-20 tie.

E&O doesn’t get much with the draw. It remains in 8th place in the Eredivisie. Next week BEVO from Panningen will visit Emmen.
