The Tuscan coach passed away at the age of 87. In his career he had also led Empoli and Sampdoria
Italian football mourns Enzo Riccomini, the historic coach who died in Viareggio, who would have turned 88 in a month and who in his long career on the bench had led, among others, Sampdoria, Empoli and Pistoiese, with which he obtained the first historic promotion to Serie A in the 1979-80 season. The Pistoiese was nicknamed “the Olandesina” because of the orange uniforms that in the common imaginary referred to the color of the Dutch national team jerseys. Riccomini also coached Ternana (1973-74) and Ascoli (1975-76). He ended his coaching career in 1993 with Viareggio playing in Serie C.
