Environmental permit granted for energy island for…

Minister of the North Sea Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open VLD) has approved the environmental permit for the Princess Elisabeth Island – as the energy island is officially called.
Obtaining the permit is an important condition for the construction of the artificial island, according to Elia.

As a reminder: work on the island will take approximately two years, between March 2024 and August 2026. The Belgian dredgers and sworn competitors Jan De Nul and DEME are doing this together. In Vlissingen, in the North Sea Port, they have already started with the site layout for the construction of the concrete foundations.
