Ingrid Teeuwisse is very proud of her new gift shop in thrift store De Springplank. Creative entrepreneurs rent a shelf there to sell their stuff. “It’s amazing what people can make themselves.”

From Saturday 15 October we can shop at Store in Stall on the Edelgasstraat. According to Ingrid, you can easily make a day out of it: ‘First stroll around in the thrift store, browse through the nice gifts in my store, and drink coffee and have lunch in the restaurant.”
At markets and fairs
During a visit to the store, Ingrid is still busy with the interior. From Saturday you can go there for homemade cookies, jewellery, house perfumes, greeting cards and works of art: all made by local, creative people. “I started with a market stall at fairs, but corona threw a spanner in the works.”
How it started
Ingrid worked as a job coach at a healthcare institution and had a colleague who could crochet so beautifully. “She made the most beautiful things and most wanted to have her own shop. I went looking for a property for her, but it was far too expensive. I bought wooden crates and filled them with her crochet work and other homemade things, including ceramics and felt. I went to sell those things at markets and fairs.”
After the lockdown, Ingrid couldn’t let go of the idea of selling handmade things. “I like going to thrift stores and here in the Springplank I suddenly saw a small space empty. I didn’t think twice and sat down with Ad Ockers and Floris Torenstra. They helped me to start my own shop here. I am so proud!”

According to Ingrid, you can buy the nicest gifts for small prices. “We all have to save and how nice is it if you can bring a nice present for someone for a few euros. All made with love, so even more special to receive.” The cabinets and shelves in the store are filled by the makers with soaps, cards, old-fashioned spice jars, vases and pillows. An entrepreneur rents a shelf in my shop for about 22.50 euros per month,” explains Ingrid. “The cabinets come from the thrift store and I refurbished myself with a lick of paint and wallpaper.”

For the good cause
In addition to the income for the makers and herself, Ingrid wants to put a good cause in the spotlight every three months. “For example, the animal home may use a shelf to put items for sale on it. And I ask the entrepreneurs if they want to donate something. The proceeds go to charity.”
Store in Stall will be open from Saturday 15 October. On Thursdays every other week and every Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and every Saturday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
