English order for shipyard in Lauwersoog for pilot boat for large energy port. Ship can sail under the toughest weather conditions

Next Generation Shipyards in Lauwersoog has received an order from England for the construction of a 22 meter long pilot boat. Construction will start next year and the vessel will be put into service in 2025.

The order comes from the port authorities in Port of Milford harbour. This is one of the most important energy ports in the United Kingdom, handling twenty percent of England’s energy needs. The ship is an addition to the current fleet and is intended to strengthen the pilotage services in the port.

The ship is being designed by the English Camarc Design, a company specialized in innovative high-speed vessels that are suitable for sailing in difficult weather conditions. The boat becomes self-righting: the hull straightens itself if the vessel capsizes. Wheelhouse and crew facilities will meet the highest safety requirements. The pilot boat will sail at a speed of more than 25 knots and will also be equipped with water jets.

“We are extremely proud of the contract for the development and construction of this new pilot vessel. Together with Camarc Design, we are convinced that we can create the best pilot vessel for the Port of Milford Haven. We look forward to the engineering and design phase and the start of construction next year,” says Steven Bonder of Next Generation Shipyards.
