“English Kerkhoovn” holds job day
In Ypres there are more than a hundred white cemeteries of British soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. The tombstones must be maintained. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission, also known locally as “the English graveyard”, therefore holds a kind of job day.
No expertise or experience is required for the gardeners. Among the candidates is Elwyn from Wales, his grandfather fought in Belgium in the First World War. The maintenance of the cemeteries is therefore particularly close to his heart.
