Engie will again offer permanent contracts | Energy prices

Market leader Engie will once again offer permanent contracts for electricity and gas for residential and small professional customers from 1 April. For variable contracts, Engie is switching to monthly indexations, the company reports. Luminus was so far the only one to offer permanent contracts again, since January.

Engie is implementing the changes in response to the price decreases for energy since the beginning of this year. Prices on the wholesale markets are back at the level of autumn 2021.

From April 1, Engie will reintroduce a fixed-price contract with a term of one year in its offer. Easy Vast will be available in a limited quantity and is intended for customers with a fixed contract that will be renewed in June 2023 and for consumers who prefer long-term stability and security.

Engie will reintroduce fixed-price contracts “gradually and in a controlled manner, taking into account the general expectations of the Belgian market and the evolution of market conditions”.

With monthly indexation instead of quarterly indexation for new contracts from 1 April 2023, the ‘Easy Variabel’ contract will from now on also reflect price developments on the wholesale markets more quickly.
