Energy prices are leveling off slightly, food prices continue to rise

The price of food rose further in June. Foods were 11.2 percent more expensive last month than in the same period a year ago. In May of this year it was still 9.1 percent. Food products have become more expensive every month since September 2021. The increase is mainly due to more expensive dairy products and meat. But most other products, such as grains, oils and fats, vegetables, fish and fruit, have also become more expensive.

The price increase of energy was less pronounced in June than in May, according to the figures. This led to a fall in inflation. Where energy (electricity, gas and district heating) was still 105 percent more expensive in May than a year ago, it was 84 percent in June. Petrol and diesel were 34.8 percent more expensive in June than a year earlier. In May it was 27.3 percent.
