Energy suppliers are not allowed to significantly increase the variable rates for electricity and gas from 1 October. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) will address the companies about this. Energy companies invoke the industry conditions, but according to the ACM, customers must have a minimum of thirty days to be able to switch energy suppliers if necessary.
