Every day, at a nature campsite on Terschelling, my wife and I (aged 65 and 69) make a long run to the sea and back before breakfast. Our girl next door, about six years old, regularly comes to chat. “Have you been to the beach yet?” she asks. “Yes, early this morning.” She then says: “Oh yes, I saw you running away: so cute!”
