Endesa expects to complete the closure of all its coal plants in 2027, three years ahead of schedule, and has drawn up a plan to mitigate the impact of dismantling these thermal facilities on the areas where they are located.
As explained by the electricity company in a statement sent this Saturday, these projects, framed in the so-called Futur-e Plan, will consist of helping in the job search for affected staffundertake professional recycling initiatives, promote renewable projects in the area and develop energy efficiency measures in the localities.
Endesa already has three coal plants in the process of dismantling –Andorra (Teruel), Compostilla (León) and Carboneras (Almería)-, has requested the closure of As Pontes (A Coruna)) and is already processing the closing of It is Murterar (Balearic Islands).
In 2019, Endesa announced that it would stop operating all its coal-fired power plants on the peninsula, including those in which it had carried out investmentsgiven the rise in fuel prices derived from the new mechanisms of the carbon dioxide emission rights market.
