The Rhein-Neckar Löwen have ended their series of defeats. After losing seven games in a row, the handball Bundesliga team defeated league rivals TSV Hannover-Burgdorf 27:26 (11:13) in the main round of the European League on Tuesday evening. Thanks to their first success since mid-December, the North Baden team now has a good chance of making it to the knockout round.
Victory despite interim Four goals behind
David Móré was the top scorer for coach Sebastian Hinze’s team with eight goals in front of 2,344 spectators in the Heidelberg SNP Dome and, alongside the outstanding goalkeeper David Späth, a guarantee of victory. The goalkeeper held strong in the first half. At the beginning of the second half, the Lions even fell behind by 13:17 (37th), but Späth brought his team back into the game and in a dramatic final phase, the North Baden team saved their lead over time.

While the Lions now have a good chance of reaching the knockout rounds in the European League, they urgently need a win again in the Bundesliga. The next opportunity is on Saturday (October 24th, 8:30 p.m.) at HBW Balingen-Weilstetten, the current bottom of the league table. The Lions are currently in tenth place there.
