SEW failed to pull off a stunt against Házená Kynžvart in the European Cup. After the previous big defeat in the Czech Republic last week, they also lost tonight: 23-30. This means that the European campaign for the club from Nibbixwoud will end prematurely.
Sports hall De Bloesem in Wognum was full for the return in the third round of the EHF European Cup. The spectators saw that SEW got off to a good start and took an early lead. After ten minutes, however, the Czech Republic opponent gained steam and SEW had to give chase. Halfway through, coach Michael Vijverberg’s team faced a 13-9 deficit.
After halftime, the difference in strength between the two teams became visible once again. Házená Kynžvart finally took distance and opened up a lead of seven points.
Focus on premier league
Due to the elimination in Europe, SEW can now fully focus on the Premier League. SEW is currently disappointingly eighth in the rankings with 6 points from 8 matches. Leader Venlo has collected 18 points from 10 games. The next SEW match is next Tuesday, November 21. Then V&L visits Wognum.
