PSV can no longer rely on Olivier Boscagli for the rest of the season. The French defender suffered a serious knee injury on Sunday in the home game against RKC Waalwijk (2-0). Trainer Roger Schmidt feels bad because of the serious injury of his defender. “But there is no time for frustrations. We have to keep going and want to win for him.”
Boscagli has to undergo surgery and according to PSV a long recovery period is waiting.
The left-footed defender is a fixed value in the PSV team under Schmidt. He played in 28 of the 29 league matches that PSV played this season. The Frenchman was also a regular force in the European competitions. He made fourteen European Cup appearances this season.
PSV will play against Leicester City on Thursday evening for a place in the last four in the Conference League. The first meeting, with Boscagli, ended in a draw (0-0). The cup final against Ajax is on Sunday.
