Resting on the steps of the Megaland site is not an option this edition of Pinkpop. The well-known stairs have been replaced by a ramp.
The stairs have been replaced to make the site more wheelchair-friendly and for the safety of festival-goers, explains Niek Murray of Pinkpop.
Iconic stairs
The stairs formed the entrance to the festival meadow for years. Many Pinkpop visitors have used the stairs to relax or to have a better look over the crowd.
Modifications
According to Murray, more changes have been made to the festival site, but the slope is the most eye-catching. “The management of Megaland wanted to adjust a number of things. Of course we support that as Pinkpop.”
Megaland wants to be more than just the home base of the oldest festival in the Netherlands. With these adjustments, the management of the site hopes to bring in other events as well.
Pinkpop
The 51st edition of Pinkpop will take place on 17, 18 and 19 June 2022 at the Megaland festival site in Landgraaf. The headliners are Metallica, Pearl Jam and Imagine Dragons.
