The fire broke out around 3 p.m. Soon the flames struck meters high from the roof. It would be a vacant bell farm in the West Frisian Midwoud.
Many local residents are on the street to look at the fire. “It is a big fire, the flames are shattering and there is a lot of smoke development,” says an NH reporter on the spot.
Wind in the right direction
The smoke can be seen in the wider area. “Fortunately, the wind is in the right direction, because a little further on is a house.” A house on the other side of the farm is kept wet according to the safety region as a precaution.
The farm was totally destroyed by the fire. The farm has been empty for several years. There were already plans to demolish the farm and to build apartments.
Nothing is known about the cause of the fire.
