Stevie Nicks is currently on a co-headlining tour with Billy Joel: “Two Icons, One Night 2023” takes the two of them through the USA together. During the tour kick-off on Friday (March 10), Stevie Nicks paid tribute to her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who passed away in December.

During the co-headlining tour with Joel in Inglewood, California, Nicks returned to the stage after the show officially ended for two highlights: “Rhiannon” and “Landslide”. The latter featured images of Nicks and McVie projected onto a screen. At the end of the song, Nicks said quietly, “There really isn’t much to say. We’ll just pretend she’s still here. That’s how I try to deal with it.” Before that, Fleetwood Mac classics like “Dreams”, “Gypsy” and “Gold Dust Woman” had been played.

She also paid homage to Tom Petty, who died in 2017, singing “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” on stage. She originally recorded the track with Petty for her debut solo album, Bella Donna, in 1981. For the duet, she was joined by Billy Joel. Later, Nicks sang Petty’s 1989 single “Free Fallin’.”
