The basketball players of Landslake Lions have had a tough Saturday night. In the 81-70 loss against Den Helder, Lions player Tanya Bröring apparently suffered a serious knee injury and cried out in pain on the field. “Intense, we are all shocked by this”, said Lions trainer Marlous Nieuwveen.

Bröring sustained the injury in the third quarter. Both teams were quite shaken. Den Helder was ahead by ten points before the injury. Still, Lions fought back to four points. Halfway through the fourth quarter, the home team’s resistance was broken and Den Helder ran out again. Final score: 70-81.
Emotions
Afterwards, the emotions were released at Nieuwveen. “I hid them away during the game and they came out after the game. I am proud of the team that we did not let our heads hang”, said a visibly emotional Nieuwveen afterwards.
