Hatayspor coach Volkan Demirel shared a post for his former player Christian Atsu, who lost his life in the earthquake last year.
Demirel, who shared Atsu’s free kick goal, made the following statements.
“This goal scored by Atsu is the last gift we received from him. This goal, which came right before the earthquake, symbolizes pure joy and hope. But the earthquake that followed took Atsu, our teacher Taner and many of our loved ones from us. Now, their passing away, Hatay “One year has passed since the great loss suffered by Turkey and our 10 provinces. We remember it with great love and mercy.”

Hours before the earthquake that devastated Turkey, Hatayspor hosted Kasımpaşa on its field. 90+7th minute of the match held in Hatay on the evening of February 5th. Christian Atsu, who scored a great free kick goal in the minute, enabled his team to leave the field with a 1-0 victory. Atsu, who scored his first goal in months and earned 3 points for his team in the Kasımpaşa match, made Hatay happy.
