A major clean-up campaign is currently underway on the Dordsedijk near Klazienaveen. The municipality of Emmen receives help from the environmental police. Security is also present.
The cleanup is at Willy Bryan’s house. Excavators are being used to clean up the mess. Tow trucks are also ready to tow away old machines.
Bryan has been at loggerheads with the municipality since 2010. According to the municipality, there was a lot of rubbish and old iron on the site at the time, even though this was contrary to the zoning plan. After Bryan was summoned several times to clean up the mess and then failed to do so, Emmen decided to take action himself. The bill for 71,000 euros was then sent to the Klazienavener.
The man then went to the Council of State to challenge that bill, but was unsuccessful.
