After five regattas, Plasschaert has 22 points, eleven points to make up for Anne-Marie Rindom. The Danish, reigning Olympic champion and three-time world champion, retained the lead, but saw the Swedish Josefin Olsson come within one point. Germany’s Julia Busselberg and Dutch Maxime Jonker share third place on seven points. The Hungarian defending champion Maria Erdi is sixth with 20 points. The Dutch Marit Bouwmeester, number one in the world and four-time world champion, has already climbed to eighth place after a bad start. She is now doing one point better than Plasschaert.
Thirty-year-old Plasschaert is chasing a third world title. In 2018 she won gold in Aarhus, in 2021 in Al Mussanah. In 2022 she stood on the podium in Kemah with bronze. Last year she had to settle for sixth place in Scheveningen. With this she already provided Belgium with a starting ticket for the Games in Paris.
