Emma Meesseman receives a decoration from the Flemish Government
The former K3 singer and champion of children’s rights Kristel Verbeke, film director Lukas Dhont and the Flemish teaching corps also received a decoration. It is now the ninth time that Flanders awards decorations.
The Flemish decoration is an honorable distinction for persons who have been particularly deserving and who have contributed to the positive image of Flanders through their individual exceptional talents.
This year, Flanders is awarding five decorations. For example, one goes to the West Flemish basketball star Emma Meesseman, who recently led the Belgian Cats to a European title. “Meesseman shows that passionate women living on a small dot of the world map have a lot to offer. She serves as an example for countless young ladies who dream of a sports career and make very heavy sacrifices for this”, says Flemish Prime Minister Jan jambon.
