Emma Kimiläinen was elected to the wheel of an international sports brand

Emma Kimiläinen fully enjoys her professionalism.

Emma Kimiläinen arrives a quarter of a day late at the tatami in Kontula.

The railroad driver had been caught in the backyard, where Kimiläinen’s role on the board of the housing association makes him a popular neighbor.

– Isn’t it to go then, the 32-year-old motor athlete exclaims the fitness coach To Anssi Ulvinen.

From the very beginning, it is clear that Kimiläinen is not interested in the opportunity to get acquainted with hapkido or jujutsu. Ulvinen’s program includes exercises that develop reactivity, basic muscle fitness and a lot of iron.

There is clearly a strong trust between the two. There is no way it would be possible for them to be able to listen to each other’s wooden footstools in the middle of a racket.

Kimiläinen will start his third year of motorsport in the W Series next weekend. He has won one race in both previous seasons, but now it is no longer enough to snap individual first places.

– I definitely believe that success will come. I’m going to get the championship myself, Kimiläinen bangs after the break.

– I have no other minimum goal. The opening tests for the season have gone really well, and that’s good.

Huge interest

The task is challenging as the series double champion Jamie Chadwick is still with him. The W Series was initially marketed as a springboard to larger circles. Chadwick went to sniff out the pace of the F1 series as Williams’ “development driver,” but had to give up the role.

From the point of view of F1 equality, the development is unfortunate. With two W Series championships, Chadwick would have enough super-license points to be used in Friday’s free GP practice.

Still, that place went too To Jack Aitken and Roy to Nissany.

However, Kimiläinen does not see the development as purely negative. The glass roof can also break with the further development of the W Series.

– The series is both a springboard forward and it enables professionalism in itself. There are only two formulas in Europe where you can make money: F1 and W Series.

– That’s a really great thing.

Already, the interest in the series points is huge. In Europe, the series is shown by media giants like Viaplay (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland) and Sky Sports (Britain, Italy, Germany).

With visibility, the W Series aims for an ever bigger cake.

– I personally have no problem staying in this series. I know how it will develop from this. We don’t drive terribly long with these cars but we get decent tricks underneath.

Kimiläinen paints a picture of the entire W Series family, with different car classes within which you can move or jump to the “boys” side if you wish.

Puman Ykköskuski

Kimiläinen was named the number one driver of the Puma team for this season. The additional interest and pure aesthetics brought by the international clothing giant are clear reasons why the Finn will be re-ignited in the races of ten races.

– It was an honor to be elected. Every single one of us would want to be a Puma driver, but they just wanted me as their number one driver.

– I also have the best looking car and coverall, Kimiläinen laughs.

Of course, Puma is not just involved in charity. It wants more brand credibility for its brand in the eyes of female customers. And for that story, a blond-haired mother from the north fits in when she’s number one for starting acceleration.

– Of course there will be a little more work in it. There are many different looking opportunities. In principle, though, it’s really positive to have that kind of iconic brand in the background.

Puma has a “She moves us” campaign aimed specifically at women, which Kimiläinen is now advertising.

– It inspires women around the world to move. They think I share that message perfectly, Kimiläinen refers to her motherhood.

A Czech guy from a Finn Tereza Bábícková represents the very other extreme with its W Series experience.

– She is a young girl who has just turned 19 years old. Very talented and promising driver and a really nice guy.

Motherhood helps

Kimiläinen is the oldest driver in the series, but he doesn’t even think about quitting. The W Series has provided him with a great reason to continue with the sport he loves.

– I’d like to drive all the way to the world. As I have gotten older and made this palette work, there has also been more joy and enjoyment in driving. Excessive pressure, fear of failure and over-attempt are gone.

– Disappointments no longer define my identity as much as when I was younger. It is through that that the security of the spiritual level comes.

Kimiläinen compares his situation to the Haas driver To Kevin Magnussen. The Dane had to give up his F1 dream against his will, but realized how life outside the circus can be at least as rewarding.

When the Russian offensive war returned him to the wheel of Haas, it no longer had to be squeezed in the same way.

Coincidentally or not, Magnussen now also has a child.

– He has another bigger role in his life. Kevin is now able to enjoy driving. The results also come through it.

The career continues

Kimiläinen speaks so profusely that it is clear why Puma just wanted his charismatic Finnish stable.

– This also resonates with Puma. It’s important to them that I be able to be a top athlete even though I have a family. You can get both. It inspires other women as well.

The Finn’s career continues for the time being. Kimila may stay in the W Series for years to come or even jump to the U.S. for Indy cars.

– My goal is to be a professional and to enjoy that thing.

Right now, those conditions are clearly being met.

– I’m living my dream.

The W Series competitions can be viewed on VSport’s channels and on Elisa Viihde Viaplay’s service.
