Car athlete Emma Kimiläinen told Iltalehte that she is changing sports.
Emma Kimiläinen, 34, has been racing in the women-only formula series W Series for the previous three years.
The last season of Kimiläinen, who finished third in the 2021 series, ended prematurely like the others, when the W Series, which ran into severe financial difficulties, put the end of the season in the middle of the season.
Kimiläinen’s future in the motorsport world has been open, but now the plans are starting to become clear.
– The sports career will continue next year. There might be competitions this year, but I’ll see how I prioritize and make time. This is such a fluctuating and cyclical situation, Kimiläinen told Iltalehte Dancing with the Stars behind the scenes of the program.

– A different series and possibly a completely different species. I will continue in motorsport, but in a way it’s a new sport, Kimiläinen said.
He did not reveal more about his future prospects at this stage.
Kimiläinen drove in the W Series from its first season, i.e. from 2019. The series was first affected by the pandemic, and then the investor who promised too much disappeared.
In addition to W Series, Kimiläinen has also driven in other series such as ADAC Formula Master, Formula Ford Zetec and STTC and Audi Palmer. Kimiläinen has also worked as a commentator for F1 broadcasts.
