Emission Testing Mode makes Teslas fart
At first glance, you wouldn’t expect a particularly exciting or funny function behind the name “Emission Testing Mode”. One might think that it is some test mode for emissions control and serves more technical purposes. However, if you think about it more closely and realize that the Tesla models are electric cars that emit no emissions at all, the function seems rather strange.
Funny is probably also an apt word for the Emission Testing Mode. This makes the Tesla car fart. This is both funny because it’s funny in a mundane way and funny because no other known car has such a feature. Tesla boss Elon Musk is apparently particularly proud of this “achievement”. On Twitter he wrote in a tweet: “Please write “invented the car fart” on my tombstone. That’s my only request.”

Perfect for jokes and pranks
The Emission Testing Mode is primarily something for jokers. The mode can be activated via the settings on the large touchscreen and a whoopee cushion can be assigned to a seat. The driver can do this for himself as well as for any passengers and thus play a little trick on them. However, after the fart has been triggered, the mechanism should switch itself off again so that the fart noises are not heard all the time for a seat. For a good joke, the joke has to be set again and again in advance. In addition to the assignment of a seat, you can also replace the sound of the indicator with the sound of farting. How to activate the Emission Testing Mode
As already mentioned, to activate the Emission Testing Mode, you have to call up the Application Launcher on the Tesla touch screen. Then you get to the Emission Testing Mode via the Toy Box. According to the Teslamag website, the function in Germany, based on the VW scandal, is called the exhaust gas scandal. In the next step you can choose between the two available modes. Accordingly, the car farts either on demand or when blinking. To ensure that the car then also makes the desired sounds, the appropriate audio template can be selected from a range. Tesla offers the user seven different options. Among them are the six different fart sounds named “Not a Fart”, “Short Shorts Ripper”, “Falcon Heavy”, “Ludicrous Fart”, “Neurastink” and “Boring Fart”. The seventh option is “Im So Random”, which randomly selects one of the six available French phrases. After you have then equipped a seat with the fart, if necessary, you press the left button on the steering wheel to confirm the setting – and you’ll make your own Tesla fart.
