Dolly Parton’s back and forth with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Dolly Parton declined her nomination just a few weeks ago. She stated that as a country singer, she “didn’t have the right” to be alongside all of the other nominees.

“I’ve always believed that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is for people from rock music,” the musician later justified her decision. She now reported that she understood that this was not exclusively the case. “But if [Rockmusiker] If you can’t go there to be recognized, where can you go?” she asked anyway, describing her concern as “something to someone [wegzunehmen]who maybe deserves it more than I do, because I’ve never seen myself as a rock artist.” In the end, the 76-year-old admitted that there was probably more to the nomination.

In 2022, the Hall of Fame features unusually active members

While most of the performers inducted into the Hall of Fame in recent years were no longer active or even deceased, this year’s honorary members are still on tour or have at least performed in recent years. Only the pop duo Eurythmics is no longer active. Annie Lennox and Dave Steward last performed in New York in 2019.

Duran Duran are recorded including former guitarists

As for Duran Duran, the current line-up will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, as well as former guitarists Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo. The latter left the band in 2001, Taylor left in 2006. Duran-Duran singer Simon Le Bon said on SiriusXM shortly after announcing the nomination, “I wouldn’t be sitting here without the incredible artistic contributions of Andy Taylor and Warren Cuccurullo.” the two could stand on stage.

KK Downing joins the Hall of Fame with Judas Priest

Judas Priest recently held a public fight against their former guitarist KK Downing. In 2011 he left the heavy metal band after a dispute before putting together his own edition of the group called KK’s Priest in 2020. Former drummers Les Blinks and Dave Holland also join the group. Holland passed away in 2018, Blinks is a member of KK’s Priest and could appear with the band on the recording for the first time in several decades.

Eminem 2022 as the only hip-hopper

Eminem is the only hip-hop artist to be inducted this year. He’s also the only one who didn’t start releasing music until the ’90s.

This year’s nomination was the third for Eurythmics and Judas Priest and the second for singer Pat Benatar. Dolly Parton, Carly Simon and Lionel Richie were each nominated for the first time this year.
