Type: biographical, literary ✦✦ 1/2
Director: Frances O’Connor. With Emma Mackey, Adrian Dunbar Alexandra Dowling
Inspired more by opera (Wuthering Heights) than to the life (about which little is known) of Emily Bröntethe directorial debut of the actress by TO THE is a hyper-romantic film in which the (very modern) restlessness of the protagonist and her sensuality are the direct consequence of the essential gothic atmospheres breathed in the rural austerity of Yorkshire.
Deprived of her father’s affection, rejected by a lover she probably never had, envied by her sister Charlotte (author of Jane Eyre), Emily’s sorrowful portrait is put together like a puzzle.

emma mackey (Sex Education) holds its own against Isabelle Adjani who in 1979 was Emily for André Téchiné.
