Finnish tennis ace Emil Ruusuvuori advanced to the ATP tournament in Hong Kong.
Rusuvuori defeated the 15th ranked in the world Karen Khashanov 7–6, 2–6, 6–2 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament. The Russian was ranked second in the tournament, so this is one of the hardest wins in Ruusuvuore’s career. The match lasted almost two and a half hours.
The two had met twice before, and on those occasions Khachanov was stronger.
Ruusuvuori had beaten the Frenchman in the opening match of the tournament By Benjamin Bonz in three sets 6–7, 6–2, 6–1. The Finn will face either Italian Lorenzo Musetti or Russia in the quarterfinals Pavel Kotov.
