Emil Ruusuvuori (ATP-52) advanced convincingly to the semifinals of the ATP tournament in Stockholm. The American ranked 17th on the ATP list fell in the semifinals Frances Tiafoe directly in two sets 6–1, 6–2.
The opening set in particular was a display from the Finn. He immediately broke Tiafoe’s pass and took a 3–0 lead. Tiafoe’s first passes were successful with a low percentage, which made the Finn’s night easier.
The victory over Tiafoe was Ruusuvuori’s second. The two met each other last year in Canada at the ATP-Masters tournament.
The semifinal spot in the ATP tournament is Ruusuvuori’s third of the year. The Finn also reached the final in India in February, but his first ATP tournament victory fell short Joao Sousa against. In Stockholm, Ruusuvuori got his revenge and knocked down the Portuguese in the previous round.
Ruusuvuori will play in the semi-finals after being ranked number one in the tournament Stefanos Tsitsipasia (ATP-5) vs. They will meet in the second semi-final Holger Rune (ATP-27) and Alex de Minaur (ATP-23).
On the doubles side Harri Heliövaara and Lloyd Glasspool also play in the semi-finals. Opposite are uninvested Maxime Cressy and Albano Olivetti.
