Emil Ruusuvuoren a trip to Wimbledon in the first round. Former grand slam winner Stan Wawrinka beat Ruusuvuori 3–0 on Monday evening.
The first two sets were even. Rusuvuori was on top for a long time and led the first set 4–2. Then the Finn lost his serving turn, and the person from Lausanne vacated.
Wawrinka went up to 4–4, then 5–5 and finally took the set 7–5.
Rusuvuori failed to break Wawrinka’s serve in the second set. Again, he got a chance to decide when he led 5–4, but the Swiss rallied to take a 2–0 lead.
Ranked 47th in the ATP list, Ruusuvuori had never come from a 0–2 deficit to a win in his career. And he didn’t succeed in that either.
Wawrinka won the third set 6–4 and advanced to the second round.
