The municipality of Vijfheerenlanden is setting up a crisis shelter for refugees in the sports hall of De Linde village hall in Meerkerk. It is expected that about fifty to seventy refugees will be accommodated in the sports hall until 1 October. The first will come in early August.

With the emergency shelter, the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden is trying to respond to the call from the central government. Nationally, efforts are being made to have sufficient childcare facilities again from 1 October. Until then, emergency shelters are being set up in various municipalities to bridge this period.
