The fire brigade was called out this morning to a fire in one of the classrooms of a primary school at the Meetketen in Zwaag. Teachers and students had to leave the school due to smoke released.
According to a spokesperson for the safety region, an accident involving a battery occurred around 10 a.m. this morning. It would be a school within the Socrates child center.
“There might be something wrong with a battery that has started smoking,” he tells NH. The students and teachers are temporarily housed in an adjacent building.

The emergency services responded in large numbers. “That was mainly to be on the safe side,” said the spokesperson. “There was smoke development and the ambulance is on site to check any complaints.”
It is not yet clear whether students and teachers have been affected by the smoke. “I have no insight into that at the moment,” says the spokesperson.
