Hangover Chiel, who was missing for days, has been found. He was found near cat hotel Bollie in Benningbroek, in good health. Owner Emmy de Vries from Nibbixwoud cannot believe her luck. “He immediately came to hang on my neck and gives everyone cups.”
Owner Emmy de Vries from Nibbixwoud still can’t believe it. The past few days have been a rollercoaster of emotions, after being shocked by the missing of their pet during their holiday in the south of France.
Saskia Brasser of the cat hotel Bollie in Benningbroek discovered last Saturday that the mesh of the cat run had been cut open. A total of seven cats disappeared. Six have since been found, including Chiel. She can’t believe her happiness. “Oh, we are so happy and relieved,” Emmy calls into the phone. “We found Chiel last night. He immediately came to hang on my neck and gives everyone cups.”
Meows attract attention
They cut short their vacation early to help with the search near the cat hotel. Because Chiel is not just a hangover. It is a living tribute to a beloved colleague who bore the same name. In 2018 he passed away from cancer. “We bought Chiel from his inheritance,” said Emmy rather against NH.
Her attention was drawn to meows in Saskia’s unused outdoor enclosure. There she finds Chiel, very emaciated and dehydrated. The next day she takes the hangover to a vet. “He is very thin and has lost more than half a kilo, which the vet says is a lot for a hangover.”
She is overjoyed that her pet is safely home after all this time to recuperate. “We gave him some food, which shocked him in. He was also very thirsty,” says Emmy. One thing is certain: Chiel will never lose sight of ‘his’ owners. “He stays wherever we are. If we are outside in the garden, he will lie outside. If we walk upstairs, he will follow right behind.”
