EM in England | Substitute goalkeeper Schult back on the training ground

The German reserve goalkeeper Almuth Schult has returned to the training ground after her flu infection.

The 31-year-old from VfL Wolfsburg, who is moving to Angel City FC in the USA after the European Football Championship, only completed a limited training session in Brentford on Sunday.

Schult missed the German team’s 2-0 win against Austria in the quarter-finals. The DFB women therefore had only one backup goalkeeper on the bench in Ann-Katrin Berger from Chelsea. Merle Frohms stood between the posts and kept a clean sheet in the fourth tournament game. The record European champions will play against France in Milton Keynes on July 27 (9 p.m. CEST/ZDF and DAZN) for a place in the final of the European Championship on July 31 in Wembley.
