The DFB officials are looking forward to a “heart against heart” duel at the European Football Championship before the quarter-finals of Germany’s women against Austria.
Joti Chatzialexiou, head of national teams at the German Football Association, called the term before the first knockout game of the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg on Thursday (9 p.m. / ARD and DAZN) in Brentord.
“We’re looking forward to the neighborhood duel. It’s a derby, it’s going to be very passionate,” said the 46-year-old. “But – and that’s our self-image and that’s how we went into the tournament: We’ll also decide in the quarter-finals who will be the winner.” In view of the mentality and level of play, “of course we’re the favourites,” emphasized Chatzialexiou. “We want to prove that and impose our game on the opponents, that will be the goal. And then we’ll win.”
