The German women’s national team meets Austria this Thursday (kick-off 9 p.m.) in the European Football Championship. Coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s team is reaching for the semifinals.
After the news of Uwe Seeler’s death, the DFB women wear black ribbons in memory of the legendary HSV striker. The German Football Association (DFB) announced this around three hours before the knockout duel in Brentford kicked off.
There will also be a minute’s silence before kick-off. DFB and Uefa agreed on this. Honorary captain Seeler died on Thursday at the age of 85.
