EM 2028 & 2032: Great Britain along with Ireland, Italy & Turkey apply

Decision in autumn 2023

For the 2028 and 2032 European Championships, there is no surprising last-minute bidder. As the European Football Union UEFA announced on Wednesday, a total of three applications for the two tournaments had been received by the end of the deadline. Turkey submitted its provisional candidacy for both finals.

However, the favorites for hosting the tournament in six years are Great Britain and Ireland, who want to bring the European Championship together to the British Isles. For 2032, Italy is the most promising candidate. The three candidates must submit the final applications by April 12 next year, and the decision should then be made in autumn 2023.

Originally, Russia also wanted to host the major event in 2028 or 2032. Due to the war of aggression against Ukraine, UEFA had already ruled out Russia as a possible host of the European Championship.
