Priscilla, a biopic about Priscilla and Elvis Presley, is scheduled for release in October 2023. Written and directed by Sofia Coppola (“Lost In Translation”, “Somewhere”, “The Bewitched”), the film is based on the book “Elvis and Me” by Priscilla Presley.
A first teaser for the work has now been published:
The film evidently angered the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s estate even before it was released. It was produced without the knowledge and consent of the estate, as representatives claim. One of Elvis’ heirs described Coppola’s work as “terrible”. “It feels like a college movie. The scenery is just horrible, Graceland doesn’t look like that,” the statement said. There is also an allegation that Priscilla Presley only initiated the film out of greed for money.
But Priscilla Presley herself perceived “Priscilla” quite differently: “I am very excited about the interpretation of my book by the masterful Sofia Coppola. She has such an extraordinary perspective and I’ve always really admired her work.” And further: “I am sure that this film will take everyone on an emotional journey.”
The biopic does not yet have an official release date, but is scheduled to be released on A24 in October 2023. It is not yet known when the film will start in Germany. Cailee Spaeny will portray Priscilla and will co-star with Jacob Elordi, who will portray Elvis.
