Who says that the German Bundestag is dead serious? Because the Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki (FDP) caused some amusement. Because of his eye-catching glasses, he was compared to the British pop singer Elton John on the Internet. Kubicki then explained the unusual comparison.

On social media, users joked that Elton John would chair the Bundestag session on Wednesday, July 5th. This meant Wolfgang Kubicki, whose tinted glasses looked amazingly similar to the eye-catching glasses of the “Tiny Dancer” singer. Apparently, Kubicki was made aware of the mockery, but the FDP politician took it with humor.
“Before I ask the next question, I have to clarify something: There is a message circulating on social media that Elton John will chair the session. That’s wrong,” Kubicki explained to the other MPs. “The glasses are due to an eye operation – even if I think they suit me well,” the politician continued.
