Elon Musk wants to donate X turnover related to war in Gaza | Israel-Palestine conflict

X owner Elon Musk wants to donate all revenue “from advertisements and subscriptions related to the war in Gaza” on his social media platform to hospitals in Israel and the Red Cross in Gaza. Musk reports this in a message on X. It is not known what amounts are involved.

An X-user asks how Musk can be sure that the money will not end up in the hands of Hamas. Musk responds that “records will be kept of how the money is spent, and that this will be done via the Red Cross/Crescent”. But he also says that “better ideas are welcome.”

The announcement comes as several major advertisers have left X, including Apple, IBM and Disney. This happened after research group Media Matters published screenshots about anti-Semitism on X. These images showed advertisements under messages extolling ideas of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich.

X sued Media Matters on Monday for “a malicious attack on the company.” Musk had already announced the lawsuit last weekend. In the complaint against Media Matters,
