Elon Musk reports success with brain chip: “Patient can control computer mouse with his thoughts” | Abroad

Neuralink implanted a brain chip the size of a coin into its first human subject late last month, after the medical regulator FDA cleared the experiment. The technology had previously been tested on a monkey.

The patient who received the brain chip has now recovered from the operation and is doing well. What’s more, according to Musk, the patient is now able to move a mouse on the screen “just by thinking”. Neuralink itself has not yet communicated the results.

Ultimately, the company wants to use the technology to help paralyzed patients walk again, but also to help the blind see again and cure psychiatric disorders.
