Elon Musk has unveiled two prototypes of a humanoid robot called Optimus.

The Tesla boss says he is aiming to build a robot that will eventually cost “probably less than $20,000” and is designed to be replicated “millions of times over”.

Musk said he wanted to enable “a future of abundance” on Friday (local time) at the annual “Tesla AI Day” conference in California, which reports on the company’s advances in the field of artificial intelligence.

“Bumble C”, one of the two prototypes, cautiously entered the stage, waved and showed a video of him delivering a package to an employee and watering plants. Employees also rolled out a more advanced prototype that had fewer visible cables but was not yet able to walk on its own.

Musk acknowledged that other organizations have developed more advanced robots, but “they lack a brain and don’t have the intelligence to move themselves,” he said. In addition, they are very expensive.
