Elon Musk pays his favorite celebrities a blue sign on Twitter: “Please, namaste”

The billionaire’s gift has received criticism.

CEO of the social media service Twitter Elon Musk has started paying for certificate endorsements to be purchased on Twitter for well-known people of their choice. Certificate marking is also known as Twitter Blue, the price of which is around 10 euros per month.

Twitter removed the verification tokens it previously used from users. Today, the only way to verify your account with the service is to pay for it.

The author has received the certificate marking, among others Stephen Kingan actor known from Star Trek William Shatner and a basketball player LeBron James.

Author King was surprised at the service that his account suddenly said he had purchased a subscription and provided a phone number to the service, even though he hadn’t. The billionaire replied to the author’s Tweet “Please, namaste”. Namaste is a greeting used in India that means “I bow to you”

Criticism of the label

Some of those who received the gift criticized the billionaire’s actions. Among other things, an American rapper Tracy Lauren Marrow (Ice T) thinks in his tweet that the gift is temporary and the entry could disappear soon.

However, Twitter users also criticize celebrities in the comments of their tweets, asking if they can’t afford to pay for the tag.

Some of the famous people have lost the certified mark of the service, and have not received a similar gift from the billionaire. These include, among others, an actor Halle Berry, Pope Francis and a writer JK Rowling.
