When asked about the biggest challenges facing the world, Musk mentioned the transition to renewable energy, but also mentioned the birth rate. Both in Western societies and in densely populated countries such as China, that figure is falling, partly as a result of an aging population.
“It’s important that people have enough babies to sustain civilization,” he said. “At least make enough babies to keep up the population. We don’t want the population to decline to the point of extinction.”
Musk also talked about fossil fuels, which he says are still indispensable. “Realistically, I think we need to use oil and gas in the short term because otherwise civilization would collapse,” it sounds. “Especially now with the sanctions against Russia.”
